Redfish behavior shifts dramatically by season. Know where they are and what they’re doing before you leave the dock.
Deep channels and warm water outflows. Fish are sluggish — slow presentations win. Look near power plant discharges and deep creek bends where water holds warmth.
Flats come alive. Water temps rise and redfish push back onto the grass. Incoming tide + sight fishing for tailing fish. One of the most visual seasons of the year.
Dawn and dusk only. Midday heat pushes fish deep. Hit topwater in the first 90 minutes of light. Overcast days extend the window significantly.
Peak season. Spawning aggregations form — huge schools of bull reds in the surf and passes. Slot fish are fat and aggressive on the flats. Fire Bite scores go through the roof.
